Fonjo Desmond Ngwayu is an exceptionally accomplished and multi-disciplinary Civil Engineer who serves as a Board Member and the former Technical Director of Group Tesla @TN Engineering Co. Ltd. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering as a doctoral student and researcher within Dr. Puppala’s Geomechanics/Geotechnical Research Group at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in the United States. Highly regarded for his academic excellence, Fonjo graduated with First-Class Honors from the National Higher Polytechnic Institute (NAHPI) of the University of Bamenda, Cameroon, where he earned both his Bachelor and Master of Engineering degrees in Civil Engineering. His prolific academic journey is further underscored by a Technical High School Teaching Diploma (DIPET II) in Public Works and multiple honors, including the prestigious Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering Excellence Fellowship and consecutive Cameroon Presidential Excellence Awards.
Fonjo’s professional portfolio spans cutting-edge geotechnical research, structural analysis, project management, and cross-border real estate consultancy. At Group Tesla, his leadership was instrumental in guiding structural designs, driving material testing laboratory practices, conducting complex geotechnical studies, and spearheading the mechanical fabrication of technical site equipment like the Heavyweight Penetrometer. His project history showcases high-impact structural interventions, including the analysis and foundation design for a G+6 hotel in Limbe, the structural engineering of a basement-equipped G+5 supermarket in Yaoundé, and the design of a G+4 Business Hub in Buea with K&F Co. Ltd. Professionally bilingual in English and French, Fonjo is a Registered Civil Engineer with the Cameroon National Order of Civil Engineers (NOCE-ONIGC) and maintains active international affiliations with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and its specialized Geo-Institute.
Beyond pure engineering, Fonjo is a dedicated educator, community organizer, and sustainable development advocate. He serves remotely as a Civil Engineering Instructor for the Higher Technical Teacher Training College (HTTTC) at the University of Bamenda, training the next generation of engineers in reinforced concrete design and construction technologies. His past leadership includes serving as President of the HTTTC Students Association and selection as a United Nations Academic Impact Millennium Fellow, where he championed sustainable infrastructure projects aligned with SDG 4. His technical mastery is supported by advanced software fluencies—ranging from geotechnical modeling tools like PLAXIS and GeoStudio to structural platforms like Cypecad and Autodesk RSA—and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification, positioning him at the forefront of innovative and low-carbon infrastructure design.
